College Essay

            Presently I self- made my success in life with the support of the important people in my life; family and friends of course. I always listen to what someone has to tell me but at the end of the day the decision has always been mine. I’ve proven that when I have my mind set on doing something nothing stops me from getting it done and I’m quick to admit when I’m wrong only to learn from my mistakes. My curiosity drives me to learn and understand things about life and other people. However, I tend to become lazy and decrease my effort put into my educational aspects of my life, but I never lose sight of what’s important at the end of the day. I show leadership and I’m open to everybody’s ideas.  I’ve shown to be strong even when in doubt and in the worst predicament and I still show it to this day.

            My work ethics have taken me a long way in all my interests and accomplishments. Basketball, Model U.N, Debate, and Band have always been a major part of my life and I put my blood, sweat, and tears in each and every one and have been very successful. The first debate tournament I attended I won three of four rounds and was a win away to advancing further into the tournament. I give respect and thanks to my teachers, instructors, and coaches that aided me anytime I needed assistance. I was a member of a well made and respected band in middle school and became one of the best tenor saxophones and promoted to playing in a jazz band and honor’s band and still visit my old instructor and play to this day.

            I have a strong interest for writing on my own time and it shows in my writing during school. My AP English teacher gives me advice on how I can continue to progress and get better at establishing a strong foundation in my writings. Writing is a way for me to channel all my thoughts and emotions onto lined paper. Model U.N requires you to write a position paper based on the country you receive and the global issue you’re focusing on. I received notice on how well I wrote and how well I establish a position the very moment I turned in my first position paper. I stay dedicated to write something everyday no matter how much it is.

            I was always a curious person, but joining Model U.N turned my curiosity into a global concern. My interest in the world makes me want to learn more and doing so leaves you open to worldwide ideas that make you interpret vast perspectives on life itself. So far, I have developed an international perspective and a strong will to establish the best position in the worst condition. I have learned to evaluate other people’s ideas and understand where they come from and why they feel the way they do. Having these abilities can take me very far in a diverse environment.

            Obstacles always seem to block me from reaching my full potential of success. As far as basketball, two knee injuries have handicapped me to do all I can on the basketball court. My personal life has so many stressors it tends to throw me off sometimes and I can never focus on what’s really important. When things like that happen I always end up struggling on my own to pull myself back to where I was. I try to talk to people to seek guidance but it never seems to change my situation. My family doesn’t have a family feeling. Certain people have certain relationships with certain people and it causes a lot of arguing over things that shouldn’t even be a problem. My parents work around the clock so I hardly ever see my mom and I have poor financial stabilities. Money has been a crucial component that has stripped me of my opportunities of new experiences and a more successful life, but I still give my all to be all I can be.
