Knockout Challenge

Health- related fitness is made up of five components; body composition, muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance, coordination, and balance. These components can be closely related to that of skill related fitness but there are some differences. Practicing one will improve the other to a certain extent. Knockout is a game that focuses on your coordination and speed. It’s a skills competition that practices your jump shot at the same time. I chose this activity because basketball is something I love and feel much more comfortable teaching to others. Additionally I feel that knockout is a fun way to compete and improve your skills at the same time.

To play knockout, all participants must form a line and make an attempt to make a shot before the person behind them does. Once the person ahead of you shoots you have a short window to eliminate them because that person must run and get their rebound and make the shot before you do. If you make the shot, get your rebound and pass it to the next person in line. The rotation keeps going until there is one left standing. Whoever possesses the best coordination and works the fastest to make a shot wins in the end. Playing this game will also work on your cardiovascular endurance to a certain point. Improving all these components can help you in your everyday life and possibly increase your confidence as well.
